About this course

Prepare for exam DP-600 (Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate) by building one enterprise analytics solution end to end in a live tenant: the Sales Performance Platform of Wide World Importers.

The course overview, then for each of sixteen modules a theory lesson and a hands-on lab: setup, getting data, choosing the store, Dataflow Gen2, a star schema in the warehouse and in the lakehouse, querying, real time with KQL, the Direct Lake semantic model, DAX, calculation groups and field parameters, import and composite models, optimisation, security and governance, the deployment pipeline, and the capstone report. It ends with 48 exam-style questions and answers.

Leader brief

What a technology leader should know about DP-600

What it is

Analytics engineering in Microsoft Fabric turns raw data into a trusted, secured and deployed analytics solution: storage, transformation, semantic models, DAX and Power BI reports.

Why now

Organisations want one platform from data load to report, with fast Direct Lake models, proper security and a deployment pipeline instead of manual copies.

Decisions you will make

  • Lakehouse, warehouse or eventhouse for each data set
  • Direct Lake, import or composite models
  • Row-level and object-level security design
  • How changes move from development to production

Risks if ignored

  • Different numbers in different reports
  • Slow reports from poorly designed models
  • Sensitive rows visible to the wrong people
  • Manual, untested releases

Cost

Free: The free 60-day Fabric trial capacity covers the labs; its days start on activation and cannot be paused.

Paid: Production needs a paid Fabric capacity.

Questions to ask your team

  • Which report is the single source of truth for sales?
  • Who can see which rows?
  • How does a change reach production today?
